Disturbia Parody - MJ Style

As with all my parodies it will help if you have the original playing in the background to help you with the tune

The Original is 'Rihannas Disturbia'

What's wrong akhi?
Why do I feel like this?
I'm going crazy now

No tawheed, in the head, can't even get hidayah
Nothing read, nothing shared, about jahanum fire
Theres no scarf, on her head, not even black abbaya
Feels like I'm going insane, yeah

It's belief in the fact that its all jadoo
Its the tree on the hill that you turn to
A disease of the mind, it can control you
He Just Buried his Daughter

take off your blinkers now, Read in the name of Your Lord
Time to question how, we preach of no discord
Better think twice, your train of thought will be altered
There are signs for those who ponder

Your lost in Jahiliya, it's like the darkness is light
Jahiliya, always putting up a fight
Jahiliya, time to set yourself right
Jahiliya, Jahiliya

* Jahiliya refers to the time of ignorance that preceded Islam.

Concerning Tariq

Its no secret that MJ adores Tariq Ramadan. I honestly think he is the leading intellectual in the Muslim World today. So you can imagine how excited I was when Ilm SA asked me to M.C Prof Tariqs youth session in two weeks time. Its always an honour to work with these guys.

I have alot of love for ILM SA because Fatima and crew pull out all stops when it comes to conferences and workshops etc. I have been to my fair share of conferences (because of the field im in) but very few actually stack up to Ilm SA's ones. Its a pity I missed this years 'From Medinah to the Millennium' conference but im hoping by plugging Tariqs workshop they will give me a set of the DVD's.

Just a bit about the programme (i'l get into the details in future posts)

Thursday the 16th July is the Ladies only programme

Friday the 17th is the Youth Session and the Topic is 'From Darkness to Light: What is the way forward for young Muslims seeking Allah'. There will also be a screening of the American documentary 'New Muslim Cool' Heres a link to the website. Ive seen bits of it already so I cant wait to see it in its entirety.

Saturday and Sunday is the main conference and will be held at the UKZN Senate Chamber. I know some bloggers are coming in from Cape Town and Grahamstown just for the conference, and I honestly think its worth it. I'm not just saying this because I hope i'l get free DVD's, but because I had the privilege of meeting Professor Ramadan two years ago, and it really changed my outlook on so many internal dilemmas I used to have.

Booking is essential as there is limited seating. You can confirm your place by calling 076 871 7696, and dont forget to tell them that you found out about it from MJ's blog and maybe i'l get those conference DVDs :D

Concerning Consistency

A'isha (R.A) narrated that Rasulullah ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) said:

"The deeds most loved by Allah (are those) done regularly, even if they are small." (Bukhari, Muslim)

Concerning Tubby

I realised something the other day. I have never fought with anyone in my family. Not once. Sure I have had disagreements here and there but ive never been in a proper argument (if there ever was a term like proper) with my dad, or my mum or my siblings. And I make alot of shukr for that. I'm not writing this to boast or anything - I just feel very blessed tonight to have such a wonderful family.

I was involved in an accident a few months ago, so my car was sent to the panel beater to sort out the dents and whatnot. It was dent free for almost two weeks when some guy blindsides my dad on the freeway last week. My dad and mum are fine Alhumdulillah, but my door needs to be replaced. I dont know what I would have done if they were injured (I dont want to imagine anything worse)

I was hired by the Hartley Road School to do announcements at their annual fair this weekend. Its always fun to do stuff like this, except when I have people who shit on me when their cars have been towed. This is mostly because I maintain my position that if you park like an inconsiderate prick, you deserve the inconvenience of being towed (even though i'l announce it like six times before they do tow). I dont understand what it is about Muslims parking in peoples driveways. I know im generalising but i see it all the time - At the Musjids, in the fairs, at Janazahs. Everywhere.

Doing announcements is more sterile than jumping up and down on the stage liek how I usually do so I used to spice it up with some fake announcements. Like this one

Will the owner of the Red Ferrari please move their vehicle as it is getting alot of unnecessary nazr

And then I saw this artist who I dont particularly like - I think he is an arrogant prick so I always cut him down to size - He was standing about twenty metres away from the info centre so I made this announcement

Atention (insert pricks name here) This message is not for you.

It was awesome seeing that bewildered look on his face. Aah - the little things that give me joy :)

My little sister is back from Yemen. They arrived last tuesday. My big sister and her family are coming down for a holiday in December - they havent been to South Africa since they emigrated seven years ago. I am lucky because ive seen them a few times. I took my mum and sister once as well, but my dad hasnt seen them since then so it will be something.

I decided not to read Istikharah. Maybe I will at a later stage, but right now I am pretty certain about what I want, and I know what I have to do to get it.

Heres a picture of my Hamster. We decided to name her Tubby. Isnt she adorable :) I love her to bits!
